Irish Superstar Aiming To Join Wrestling Elite

sheamusrrIrish Wrestling superstar Sheamus will attempt to do the impossible this Sunday by defeating 29 other wrestlers to win the WWE Royal Rumble, a feat he achieved last year.

The Dublin born grappler, real name Stephen Farrelly, will attempt to defy the odds and join an elite group of three WWE legends who have won the gruelling match more than once. The trio consisting of wrestling legends Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin all won the rumble in consecutive years, showing that a back to back feat is by no means impossible.

34 year old Sheamus will be hoping to come out on top of the match which will guarantee him a chance to fight at Wrestlemania for a title of his choosing, something he did last year beating Daniel Bryan in a record 18 seconds to capture the gold. The Celtic Warrior lost his coveted World Heavyweight Title to The Big Show at Hell In A Cell in October and will be hoping he can get a shot at reclaiming it by winning the rumble.

In the past three years the Dubliner’s stock has enjoyed a meteoric rise in wrestling circles. The Cabra native has enjoyed a blistering start to his WWE career winning the World Heavyweight Championship, 2 WWE titles, the United States title, the King of the Ring tournament and the Royal Rumble.

Sheamus ended 2012 having wrestled the most TV/PPV matches that year with 98, the most TV/PPV wins with 77, and the most TV main events with 29.

A victory on Sunday will further cement the status of the first ever Irish born WWE Champion at the top of the WWE with many already regarding the former IT worker as a future WWE Hall of Famer.
