Murder Accused Chada Remains In Custody

CHADAThe father of two boys whose bodies were found in the boot of a crashed car in County Mayo earlier this week remains in custody.

Sanjeev Chada is being held on suspicion of the murders of ten-year-old Eoghan and his five-year-old brother Ruairi. He must be charged or released today.

The boys’ remains arrived home Castlebar to Carlow at 4am this morning to be reunited with their mother, who was said tohave a perfect relationship with her husband prior to this incident.

Results of a post mortem on the bodies will not be revealed however sources say the boys were strangled.

The brothers will repose at their home from noon today and will be buried after funeral mass in their local church tomorrow afternoon.

A murder inquiry is under way following the discovery of the bodies inside the boot of a crashed car outside Westport earlier this week. A Child Rescue Ireland Alert had been sanctioned for the first time such were the fears of Gardai prior to their gruesome discovery.

Sanjeev Chada was arrested yesterday after being discharged from hospital. Gardai immediately began questioning him and resumed the process earlier this morning.

Detectives say they are pleased with the progress being made in the investigation.

They have been trying to piece together the movements of the family from the time they left their home on Sunday evening until Monday afternoon when they were found. They are still urging anybody who may have served the family food or petrol on their trip to come forward.

Gardaí are understood to have identified the location in County Mayo where the boys may have been killed last Monday.
