Body Of Irish Student Pulled From New York River

The body of a 20 year old J1 student has been pulled from the Delaware river along the New York – Pennsylvania border.

Authorities say they discovered the body of Irishman Daven Harrison after he ran into trouble while swimming beside the raft in the area of rapids near Lumberland in Sullivan County, New York , on Saturday afternoon.

Another rafter jumped in the river to help Harrison , who wasn’t wearing a life jacket , but had to be saved by a passing raft as water levels had risen four times above average due to heavy rain.

Harrison , who had been residing in Brooklyn during his stay , went under and didn’t resurface and his body was found 40 feet from shore at about 12:30 p.m. on Monday.

It had initially believed that Daven had been found on Saturday night when a body had been found in the river, but it emerged the man had drowned six weeks earlier.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is assisting the Harrison family to enable them to bring Daven’s body home.
