Human Remains Found In Dublin Mountains

An investigation is being carried out after human skeletal remains were found at Kilakee Mountain, Rathfarnham, in Dublin last night.

The discovery was made by a member of the public while out walking at approximately 7.30pm.

Early indications suggest the remains are that of a woman.

The remains have been removed to the State Morgue in Marino for post-mortem examination.

Deputy State Pathologist Dr Micahel Curtis and a forensic anthropologist examined the scene where the remains were discovered.

A garda search team has combed the area looking for clothes and other identifiable items.

A number of links have been made as to the identity of the woman however sources reveal the body is not that of missing American student Annie McCarrick , who vanished in the area in 1993.

No further information is available pending the completion of a post-mortem examination.
