Man Abducted In Ireland’s Latest Gangland Attack

Gardai are investigating the alleged abduction of a 31-year-old man in County Cavan in what appears to be Ireland’s latest gangland attack.

A silver BMW X5 4×4 vehicle, with a partial registration number 03 MN, is believed to have been in a collision with a blue/grey BMW 3 series car at the entrance to the Swiftbrook Glen Estate in Virginia at around 3.30pm yesterday.

The occupants of the 4×4 bundled the driver of the car into their vehicle and drove out of the estate.

Gardai now believe this collision was staged by the gang in order to kidnap the abducted man, who is believed to be Richard O’Donovan, whose most recent address is in Virginia, but who is originally from Navan in Co Meath.

Detectives conducted a number of interviews last night and are expected to carry out a number of detailed interviews throughout today.

Garda sources confirmed that they believe the missing man was the victim of a gangland attack and that his abductors may intend to seriously harm him.

Gardai from Bailieboro Garda Station are appealing for any witnesses to the incident; anyone who observed or who knows the whereabouts of the 03 MN silver BMW X5; or anyone who knows the whereabouts of Richard O’Donovan, to contact them at Bailieboro Garda Station on 042 9694570.
