Bradley And Gartland Linked With Rovers Return

Stephen Bradley is close to signing for Shamrock Rovers according to a source within the club.

The same source also revealed the club are targeting the signature of Graham Gartland.

Gartland found himself relegated with Shelbourne last season while Bradley had a good season with Limerick as they finished mid-table.

The two players mentioned have both previously played for the Hoops. Bradley, in 2009, lined out for Shamrock Rovers’ first season in Tallaght Stadium while Gartland signed after he returned from playing for Scottish Premier League side St Johnstone.

The signing of Bradley is believed to be the catalyst that will see prized asset Ronan Finn sign for Championship side Burnley with a 100k fee being muted in some quarters.

Meanwhile, assistant manager Colin Hawkins is set to to find himself a new role at the club as Rovers are set to bring in a ‘B’ team that will feature in next season’s First Division.

Two problems arise, however, as the new side cannot be promoted due to Shamrock Rovers’ participation in the Premier Division while their cup participation will also be non existent for similar reasons.

Shamrock Rovers ‘B’ team is set to play at Tallaght Stadium with the home fixtures likely played on the Saturday evening due to Croly’s charges playing on the Friday.

Rovers have approached players already with the thought of them featuring for the B side in the First Division.

Former UCD manager Martin Russell is set to be named assistant manager to Trevor Croly as Hawkins focuses on the B side of Rovers.

Shamrock Rovers launch a new kit on Friday evening as the news spread through that Warrior are set to be named the new club kit supplier.

Warrior also play a part in providing Liverpool, Sevilla and many other clubs with kits, bringing a brand new experience and look to football kits all around the world.

This would be Warrior’s first venture into the League of Ireland.

Manager Trevor Croly is fighting to keep a hold of striker Ciaran Kilduff who spent the majority of last season on loan to Cork City.

Kilduff himself has been linked with a move to both St.Patrick’s Athletic and Stephen Kenny’s Dundalk.

The Tallaght faithful want to keep a hold of the striker who scored a host of goals down south, moving to Turner’s Cross having failed to nail down a regular first team spot in Tallaght.

Rovers have been very busy when letting players go with nine players released in one clean swoop.

Rovers have offered contracts to Cork City duo Daryl Horgan and Gearóid Morrissey. Horgan, who is still in college in Cork City, is mulling over a new deal already while Morrissey has seen his proposed move to Huddersfield Town fall flat.

The news slowly filtered through to the media and fans as Cork City are set to announce a massive new signing within days after announcing the signature of Derry City star Michael Rafter.

The news was that Ciaran Kilduff was that man but he is likely to move elsewhere although he remains under contract in Tallaght. Cork also look set to miss out on the signing of former Sligo Rovers midfielder Danny Ventre as it looks like he will be making the move to Tallaght Stadium.

Ventre is set to be Rovers’ fourth signing following in the footsteps of Luke Byrne, Conor Kenna and Simon Madden. But this marquee signing for Cork remains to be seen. We’ll no doubt hear more about it in the coming days.
