Brother And Sister Held In Horan Death Probe

A brother and sister who are being questioned about the murder of Thomas Horan in Dublin have had their period of detention extended by a further 12 hours.

63 year old Horan was found dead on Monday in the bedroom of his apartment at Cambridge Court,  a senior citizens’ complex in Ringsend where he had been living for four years.

He is believed to have been strangled in the course of a robbery.

The 27-year-old man and the 37-year-old woman were detained yesterday afternoon. They can be questioned until around 9pm tonight by which time they must be charged or released.

Gardaí now believe the suspects involved in the killing left Mr Horan’s home between around 2am.

They have issued an appeal to taxi drivers who may have picked up a man and a woman in the Ringsend area between 2am and 5am last Monday to contact them.
