Man Held After Woman’s Body Found In Dublin Hotel

A 31-year-old man is still being questioned in connection with the death of a Sonia Blount in a Dublin hotel over the weekend.

The body of 30 year old Sonia Blount was discovered by cleaning staff in a room at the Plaza Hotel in Tallaght yesterday afternoon.

Tallaght native Blount is believed to have been strangled and Gardaí are treating the case as murder.

Blount, who was from the Old Bawn area of the Dublin 24 suburb, had checked into the hotel alone on Saturday evening.

At 9.30pm last night a man handed himself in at a Dublin Garda station. He was arrested and taken to Tallaght Garda station, located directly opposite the scene of the crime.

The man, who is from nearby Clondalkin, knew the victim.

It is believed that he had threatened to harm himself if Sonia refused to meet up with him at the hotel.

The suspect can be questioned for up to 24 hours, during which time he must be charged or released.
