You may have seen many a mention of these GANGS fellas round Irish News Review, and quite simply we can’t get enough of them so we’re delighted to report that Ireland’s hottest new band are returning home to rock The Twisted Pepper having gone down a storm in London last month. Their compatriots this time around are Northern Ireland rockers The Clameens, hot on the coat tails of GANGS to become one of the hottest new bands on this island at present.

These two have met before, both having been a part of RTE’s acclaimed “Other Voices” in both Dingle and Derry where both received extremely high praise. The Clameens are a Derry four piece who have been gaining significant presence with coverage across BBC Radio and XFM to name a few, their hit track “#Follow” garnering them massive praise and interest, from the likes of BBC Radio’s Edith Bowman and Jen Long. It has been onwards and upwards for the quartet since with support slots for The Undertones and Pete Doherty, as well as kicking off the opening ceremony for the 2014 Derry-Londonderry Legacy Year.

Their latest single, “Don’t Judge” shows massive growth and promise from the their beginning last year, and they are settling nicely into their indie sound, sitting somewhere between a grown up Two Door Cinema Club musically and Kings Of Leon vocally (I’ve seen this comparison made before, it is a little scary how much frontman Sean can sound like Caleb Followill at times, without ever imitating). Selected as one of MTV’s Unsigned Bands of 2014, we couldn’t agree more and like their stage mates for the night, catch them now while you can so you can be the ones to say “I saw them when”.

Headliners for the night then on Thursday are the trailblazers themselves, GANGS. It’s a long way from jamming in Tallaght these lads have come in a year, like The Clameens they’ve played both legs of RTE’s “Other Voices” in the last 6 months and now at the beginning of 2014 they have taken the UK by storm. Having smashed The Dublin Castle in London the night after a rousing slot at the “March Of The Mods”. GANGS are back home for their last local gig for a few months so get to it. Playing their own spin on the Mod sound (but don’t call them Mod!), GANGS are loud, they’re rockin’ and they put on a hell of a live show.

Their single release “2.15” earlier this year still stands as one of the best unsigned single releases of 2014 thus far, and with a whistle stop tour round venues in Cork, Wexford, Belfast and of course their return to the UK next month you could do far worse then tripping down to The Twisted Pepper this Thursday, like with the above, to say you “saw them when”.

Revolver Project are the promoters behind the event and if they’re fashion sense carries over on the night this will be the place to be this week. And at eight quid a pop for the ticket there’s simply no excuse.

Thursday April 24th, The Twisted Pepper, Abbey Street, Dublin
