Connacht Senior Football Championship Final

Galway v Mayo

Mayo and Galway battle in the Connacht final once again, this will be a tough hard fought game between both these sides. Mayo have been the dominant force in the last few years in the Connacht championship and have not been really challenged that much except for the exploits of Roscommon. Galway is an improving side in Connacht and their return to the Connacht final is a credit to their young players to help build a more competitive provincial championship. Mayo will still be firm favourites as Galway have a lot to learn and build on as the championship progresses. Mayo will have vastly greater experience than Galway playing at this level at the moment. Mayo will more than likely progress, Galway need to be as competitive as possible as they will face tough opposition regardless of the result.

Verdict: Mayo

All-Ireland Qualifiers

Sligo v Limerick

The treaty county will be the visitors to the Markievicz Park this weekend. Limerick will be hoping to improve on their last game as penalties were crucial in their victory, they will face a much stiffer test than their previous encounter. Sligo will be disappointed with the way they lost to Galway in the Connacht championship but will be a lot happier s they progressed with a good strong showing against Wicklow. Limerick need to have a good start to this game otherwise they could be in real trouble, Sligo won’t want to be disappointed again and with players like Adrian Marren and David Kelly they will likely progress.

Verdict: Sligo

Laois v Tipperary

Tipperary have been one of the main focus points in the championship this year when they hammered Longford in the previous round. Laois will certainly have played against very high quality opposition so far in the championship and this will stand to them if they progress. Tipperary have improved immensely giving the Rebels an awful fright on leeside and with some good positive play this will be a cracking match. Laois will be strong and depend on the likes of Donie Kingston to create most of their chances as Tipperary have a forward line that will cause the Laois defence some problems. Laois will likely edge this game on home turf.

Verdict: Laois
