Murder Investigation Under Way Following Death Of Dublin Toddler

A murder investigation is under way following the death of a two year old boy in Dublin.

The body of Hassan Khan, who was the subject of a Child Rescue Ireland Alert in August, was discovered by Gardaí at an apartment at Ridge Hall in Ballybrack yesterday afternoon.

He is believed to have sustained stab wounds.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Tallaght Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is to be carried out later today.

Gardaí are continuing to question a woman in her 40s at Dún Laoghaire Garda Station on suspicion of murder. She is believed to be known to the child and the father.

Gardaí had feared there was a serious risk to his health in August and as such released the CRI Alert, however Hassan was later found safe and well.

Hassan’s family had been in regular contact with Tusla, the Child And Family Agency, and they have pledged to provide all relevant information to the authorities to help solve this case.
