Irish News Review was set up by freelance journalist Glenn Dowd on January 4th 2011.

Dowd is a freelance journalist who was born in 1990. The Dubliner has been writing since the age of 16 and landed his first significant job in 2006 when he was taken on by the Lucan Gazette. After spending two years with the Gazette covering local sport and school events, Dowd sought pastures new.

Also coinciding with his spell with the Gazette, Dowd wrote for the official matchday programme of St Patricks Athletic for three years (2006-2009) .His column was entitled “Glenn`s Greatest” and relived the careers of famous players. Dowd also contributed special feature articles to the publication. In 2009 he adopted a new column, “Take It As Red”, where Pats fans would go head to head against the players in a quiz.

Dowd is also a successful freelance journalist, having had work published in numerous national titles including The Evening Herald, The Irish Daily Mirror,The Irish Daily Star and The Irish Sun and The Sunday World.

He was the Deputy Editor of the award winning BCFE Bulletin in 2010/2011, a student publication attached to Ballyfermot College of Further Education.

The newspaper won the award for best small publication of the year at the student media awards.

Dowd was also shortlisted for Journalist of the Year at the event.

Dowd is also an author and published his first book, Living With Lupus in November 2013.

To date, some of our other writers have gone on to hold permanent positions with leading Irish media institutions such as The Irish Daily Star and The Sunday World.
