Irish Basketball Weekly Round Up


There was a big coup for Basketball Ireland during the week as they managed to secure live radio coverage for the draw for the semi finals of the National Cup. The draw is set to take place on RTE Radio 1 at 3pm on Saturday, 14th of December. The Saturday Sports Show attracts thousands of listeners every Saturday and is sure to add to the excitement of what is Basketball’s major competition.

A producer on the programme Robbie Irwin had this to say upon the announcement. “We are delighted to enhance the promotion of the National Cup by including the live draw in our programme. RTE Radio has covered the various stages of the competition for many years and this is a natural extension to that coverage.” Continue reading

Inaugural MRU Awards Ready To Rock Dublin

This Sunday (Dec 16th) a musical event unlike any other will hit the heart of Dublin as the first Music Review Unsigned Awards show is set to take place in The Mercantile. From being the premier platform for unsigned acts in Ireland (also representing a huge portion of the UK and elsewhere) MRU is giving back to the artists that helped to make 2012 such a successful year.

The anticipation is building for the awards as musicians and music lovers alike have been connecting and spreading the word online. Here’s just a taste of the conversation –

What kind of awards show would it be if it didn’t feature some live performances? Well, MRU have that covered as a stellar and diverse line-up will hit the stage and grace their audience and peers with the very best music to highlight the year that was.

Ireland’s Unsigned Music Talent To Be Honoured

Music Review Unsigned are proud to present Ireland’s first unsigned music awards, an award show with real awards and real people, this is not a competition and there is no entry fee. This is MRU Music Awards, we know there is so much talent in Ireland and we want to give them the recognition they really deserve!

Over the last six years MRU has grown steadily in popularity as one of the premier platforms for unsigned and independent musical acts to get their name out there. The pages of MRU’s site and magazine have been home to some of the humble beginnings of Ireland’s current top independent artists including Kopek, Delorentos and more. Our established online base is thriving with upcoming talent that are just waiting to show the music industry what they’ve got!

Each winner will win an award at our live award show hosted by Sunday Roast on the 16th December at The Mercantile on Dame Street. The award show will be broadcasted live on AerTV and streamed over the internet on the night, We are currently in the first stage of the award nomination; all acts will be judged by the MRU editorial team and writers, the shortlisted acts for the next stage will be invited to the live show and the winners will be announced on the night.
