Hibs Move Four Points Clear Of Rangers In Second Place

Hibs moved four points clear of Rangers in second place in the Championship today with a 1-0 victory over Alloa Athletic at a rain drenched Indodrill Stadium today.

Although the Easter Road side dominated possession throughout, it took a Scott Allan strike from a free kick midway through the first half to secure the victory.

Head Coach Alan Stubbs made two changes to the starting XI that defeated Dumbarton 3-0 at Easter Road last weekend with David Gray and Scott Allan returning and Liam Fontaine and Danny Handling moving to the bench.

Gray resumed the right back slot and Keith Watson, who performed so well in that position moved to the centre of defence alongside Paul Hanlon. Continue reading

No Hangover As Hibs Ease Past Alloa

Alan Stubbs’ insistence that his players would not suffer a hangover following last week’s defeat to Falkirk was proved correct this afternoon as Hibs eased past Alloa Athletic at Easter Road thanks to goals from Danny Handling and Dominique Malonga.

Stubbs was able to recall two of his most experienced and influential players, skipper Liam Craig and Malonga for the visit of the Wasps at a bitterly cold stadium. Continue reading

Last Minute Goal Ends Hibs’ Unbeaten Run

A last minute David McCracken goal ended Hibs’ eight match unbeaten run in the Championship this afternoon in the Falkirk Stadium.

Hibs Drop To Eighth Place In Championship After Alloa Defeat

Hibs slumped to an embarrassing eighth place in the Championship this afternoon, after losing 2-1 to part time Alloa Athletic at Recreation park.

Their third straight defeat leaves the Easter Road side nine points behind leaders Hears after only four games.

Following Pat Fenlon’s resignation, Irish News Review casts an eye at those in line to replace the exiled Dubliner.

A poll on the Hibs-Net Fan’s Forum has Inverness boss Terry Butcher as the preferred choice, and media reports this morning suggest that the former England captain heads Rod Petrie’s list, and that an offer could be imminent.

Butcher has guided Inverness Caledonian Thistle to their highest ever league finish and but for Billy McKay missing an open goal in the semi-final of the League Cup against Hearts, he could easily have brought silverware to the Highlands. Continue reading
