The Intrusion Of Social Networking

Social Networking website Facebook offers international communication for all its users, seemingly for free; but as we all know- nothing comes free in this world. Facebook users on mobile devices such as phone are now unable to access the messaging service unless they install the new splintered app. Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg intends to monetise the app, apparently at the cost of the user. This move goes against everything social networking stands for – but it is not the most concerning aspect of the newly formatted service.

The app promises that it is faster than the built in messenger system and Facebook boast that they have seen 20% of messengers are responding quicker. This is an interesting claim from the multi-billion dollar company considering that Facebook uses an instant message system. How can a message be received any quicker than instantly? The only way instant messages can be responded to any quicker is if the notification system is improved to deliver notice of the message received and that would not require a new, separate app from Facebook – which is what the new messenger system is. New Dawn Beckons For Ireland As FAI Bid Ciao To Trap

The Football Association of Ireland have confirmed that Giovanni Trapattoni has left his role as national team manager following last night’s 1-0 defeat to Austria which ended any hopes Ireland had of reaching next year’s World Cup .

The 74-year-old and assistant manager Marco Tardelli have both departed by “mutual consent” after meeting with the FAI this morning.

Trapattoni was appointed manager in 2008 and came close to guiding the team to the 2010 World Cup finals, losing out to France in a tense qualifying play-off with many begrudging Thierry Henry’s infamous Hand Of Gaul. Continue reading

Clubs Prepare For Champions League Draw

The lineup for the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League group stage is complete and will feature no fewer than 14 previous winners of Europe’s premier club competition while FK Austria Wien will make their debut.

Eleven of the past champions were among the 22 automatic entrants, a number subsequently swelled by the progress of AC Milan, FC Steaua Bucureşti and Celtic FC through this week’s ten play-off ties. For the draw, which takes place from 4.45pm today at Monaco’s Grimaldi Forum, the 32 contenders have been split into four seeding pots (based on club coefficients), with each of the eight groups to contain one team from each tier. Trap Names Provisional Squad For Double Header

Giovanni Trapattoni today announced a provisional 29 man squad for Ireland’s upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Sweden on September 6 in Aviva Stadium, and Austria on September 10 Ernst Happel Stadion, Vienna.
