The Globalisation Of The NBA

Brooklyn Nets kicked off the first global game of 2014 with a resounding 127-110 win over the Atlanta Hawks at London’s 02 Arena last Thursday.

Over the past 35 years the NBA have played 147 games globally, visiting 20 different countries including China, Germany, Italy and Russia amongst others.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy, America’s first Irish-Catholic president, was a son of two families whose roots stretched back to Ireland.

The Fitzgerald family was from the rural County Limerick village of Bruff. Between 1846 and 1855, some of the Fitzgeralds migrated to America to escape the devastating potato famine. Thomas Fitzgerald, born in Bruff in 1823, and Rose Anna Cox, born in County Cavan in 1835, were the parents of John Francis Fitzgerald, who was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on February 11, 1863. NBA Eastern Conference Preview Part 1

Starting in the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division the Boston Celtics have radically changed from last season’s bunch of players after some block buster trades. Losing Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett makes the task of making the play offs look all that more difficult. 105 Children Freed From American Prostitution Ring

FBIDuring the past 72 hours, the FBI; its local, state, and federal law enforcement partners; and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) conducted Operation Cross Country VII, a three-day enforcement action to address commercial child sex trafficking throughout the United States. The operation included enforcement actions in 76 cities across 47 FBI divisions nationwide and led to the recovery of 105 children who were being victimized through prostitution. Additionally, 150 pimps were arrested on state and federal charges. Continue reading

Man Accused Of Airplane Threat May Have Tsarnaev Links

A Boston man accused of threatening to blow up an airplane allegedly had all the materials needed to build a pressure-cooker bomb before this kind of weapon was used in the Boston Marathon attack in April.

While investigators working with the FBI are looking to see if there are any links between the two cases, they have drawn no conclusions, according to law enforcement sources.  Continue reading

Shogun And Sonnen To Headline In Boston

shogLight Heavyweights Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and Chael Sonnen have been announced as the main event fight when the UFC returns to Boston.

Rua was expected to face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 161 but ‘Lil Nog’ was forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury.  Sonnen was expected to replace Nogueira at the event but it was decided that they would headline the UFC’s first event on Fox Sports 1. Continue reading

Boston Bomber’s Friend Shot Dead By FBI

todoA man who was interviewed over his connection with the Boston Marathon bombing suspects has been shot dead.

The incident occurred when a team of FBI agents swarmed an apartment complex near Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

The man, named as Ibragim Todashev, had been interviewed over his connection to the Tsarnaev brothers who unleashed a vile reign of terror over the Massachusetts city last month. Continue reading
