Brooklyn Nets kicked off the first global game of 2014 with a resounding 127-110 win over the Atlanta Hawks at London’s 02 Arena last Thursday.

Over the past 35 years the NBA have played 147 games globally, visiting 20 different countries including China, Germany, Italy and Russia amongst others.

The Pacers have got off to a 7-0 start which is an all time best for the franchise. Defending champions Miami Heat on the other hand have already lost three out of their opening seven games and will not have had the start that was envisioned by their supporters or indeed players prior to the season starting. Ronan Lands Lead Role In Brooklyn Adaptation

Irish actress Saoirse Ronan is set to take on the leading role in upcoming Brooklyn, adapted from the 2009 Colm Tóibín novel of the same name.

Speaking to Brendan Connelly of Bleeding Cool News, director John Crowley confirmed that Ms. Ronan will replace the originally cast Rooney Mara (‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’) as Eilis Lacey, a young Irish immigrant in 1950’s New York whose blossoming relationship with an Italian plumber is threatened when tragedy calls her home once more. Starting in the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division the Boston Celtics have radically changed from last season’s bunch of players after some block buster trades. Losing Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett makes the task of making the play offs look all that more difficult. Body Of Irish Student Pulled From New York River

The body of a 20 year old J1 student has been pulled from the Delaware river along the New York – Pennsylvania border.

Authorities say they discovered the body of Irishman Daven Harrison after he ran into trouble while swimming beside the raft in the area of rapids near Lumberland in Sullivan County, New York , on Saturday afternoon. Continue reading
