Dublin 2-21 Laois 0-16

Laois were the visitors to Croke Park this past weekend and certainly rattled Dublin feathers with a strong first half performance before the reigning All Ireland champions mounted a game winning comeback.

Laois controlled the first half with Ross Munnelly and Donie Kingston in excellent form while goalkeeper Graham Brody kept Jim Gavin’s side at bay.  Their cause was further boosted when Bernard Brogan left the play with an injury. Laois proved consistent with their point taking and would head in to half time two points clear of their opponents, thanks in large part to Brody, the post and the crossbar. Continue reading

GAA: Rampant Cork Hammer Kerry While Dublin Hold Off Tyrone

Kerry 1-11 Cork 2-18

This game was really a benchmark for their likely encounter in the Munster championship in the coming weeks ahead with a strong second half performance ensuring that their was no doubt who was the better side on the day.

Kerry and Cork both started well and exchanged early scores at a time when it seemed the rebels would get on top. Cork seemed slightly better at half time edging in front, both sides registered goals, with Paul Geaney finding the net for Kerry before Paul Kerrigan restored the lead for Cork, who led by a point at half time.

Cork seemed to raise their game in the second half and when Kerrigan found space, he setup Colm O’Neill who slammed the ball home to give Cork a nine point lead. Cork continued to push on and ran out deserving winners on a score of 2-18 to 1-11. Continue reading
