Man Shot Dead Near Dublin School


A man has died following an early morning shooting in Dublin.

He was shot a number of times near a school on Gateway Avenue in Ballymun at around 8.45am this morning. There are two schools in the vicinity of the area, both of which are closed at present for Easter holidays.

The victim is believed to be in his 40s and was originally from Finglas. He was brought to the Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Initial reports indicated the lone gunman may have fled on a pushbike however it is believed he escaped on foot. Continue reading

Two Arrested In Wynne Murder Investigation


Gardai in Tallaght investigating the fatal shooting of Karl Wynne that occured on 30th May, 2013 at St. Dominic’s Shopping Centre have arrested two men.

The two men, aged 28 and 25, were arrested at an address in Finglas this morning.

Wynne (45) died in Tallaght hospital on the 19th July 2013 from injuries sustained during the shooting. A passenger on a motorcycle fired five shots at him, hitting him once in the head and three times in the body.  Continue reading

Violent Start To 2014 As Seven Murdered So Far


Over the past few days we have been discovering the gruesome details of the murder of Thomas O’Gorman. The 39 year old researcher was killed after an argument involving a game of chess. According to reports one of his lungs was removed and has not been located. Saverio Bellante, the man charged with Mr O’Gorman’s murder, told Gardai at the scene that he had eaten the victim’s heart but it seems likely now that Bellante actually consumed the man’s lung.

This grotesque incident has been heralded as the worst witnessed by Gardaí and crime scene investigators in some time. While this case is particularly shocking and unveils the frightening extremes of suffering one person can inflict on another, it is actually just one of seven violent deaths that have taken place in Ireland since the New Year. Gardai Release Footage As They Seek To Trace Margaret Mangan


Gardai have released CCTV footage which places missing Dublin woman Margaret Mangan less than 7km from her Terenure home on the day she went missing.

The footage shows the woman , who suffers from Alzheimer’s, walking with her dog in the Glasnevin area on Tuesday evening. Continue reading

Gardai On The Hunt For Missing Alzheimer’s Sufferer

Peggy+ManganGardaí have issued an appeal to trace a woman with Alzheimer’s, who has been missing from her home in Dublin since yesterday morning.

65-year-old Margaret (Peggy) Mangan left Mount Tallant Avenue in Terenure for a walk with her dog, a cavalier King Charles spaniel, just after 11am.

She was seen with her dog on Clanbrassil Street at around 12pm.

She was seen again in Glasnevin at about 3pm, near where the Mrs Brown film was being shot, causing Brendan O’Carroll and his team to join the hunt upon hearing the news.

Varadkar Denies M50 Toll Hike

 Transport Minister Leo Varadkar has denied reports that tolls on Dublin’s M50 could be increased to up to €6.50 under plans to reduce congestion at peak times.

A study carried out by the National Roads Authority is recommending the introduction of ‘multi-point tolling’ along the Dublin motorway to reduce the demand from motorists making short trips. Continue reading
