Ireland Win International Rules Series By 101 Points

Ireland v Australia - International Rules First Test

International Rules Series Second Test

Ireland 116 – 37 Australia

Overall Result 173 – 72 Australia

Ireland were vastly superior than their Australian counterparts and it was clearly evident as it was raining goals for the Irish in Croke Park. The game started slowly but once Ireland started motoring the floodgates seemed to open and Australia had no answer. Three pointers in the first quarter from Keegan, Sheehan, McKaigue and a goal from Conor McManus ended the series as a contest. Continue reading

Australia Look Set To Improve For Second Test With Ireland

International Rules Series Second Test

Ireland v Australia

Ireland come into this second test with a comfortable lead (57-35) and don’t seem like they are going to lose the series.

However Australia have shown signs of what they are capable of with a brilliant 3rd Quarter last weekend when they really put fierce pressure on the Irish defenders and turned over a lot possession which resulted in scores for them.

Ireland need to make sure that they repeat what they did in Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday and will want to make full use of the mark as they did the last weekend. Continue reading

Ireland recorded an easy victory in the opening fixture

Ireland 57 – 35 Australia

Ireland started this game exceptionally well and made great use of the mark to kick off a strong lead by getting plenty of three pointers in this game, equivalent to scoring a point in Gaelic terms. Ireland depended heavily on their free taking from the marks they received once catching the ball and scored a lot of these to give them a strong lead of 17 points to 4 in the first quarter. it looked like they were going to embarrass the Australians on the scoreline at one stage as their lead increased to 28 points to 9 at one stage. International Rules: Ireland Could Annihilate The Aussies

Michael Murphy named as Ireland Captain

International Rules Series 2013

Ireland v Australia

This is a game that has sparked fierce debate over the last few years primarily in relation to fighting and the tough nature of some incidents in this fixture. The Australians are sending an all indigenous team to take on the Irish in Breffni Park in County Cavan this Saturday.

Over the last few years the visitors tend to fare better than their counterparts but I think this series needs to be entertaining and some worth watching rather than players throwing punches or unneccessary incidents which could lead to this game being scrapped altogether.  I would fancy the Irish lads to be more skilful than the Aussies, but they must not let the nature of the Australian type tackle ruin this fixture.
