Saints Crowned Airtricity League Champions


St.Patrick’s Athletic sealed their first league title in 14 years when they beat reigning champions Sligo Rovers 2-0 at Richmond Park this evening.

The Saints following packed into Richmond Park in the hope to see their side  crowned Airtricity League Champions for 2013 and they weren’t to be disappointed.

However, inside the first few minutes it was the visitors who started the better of the two. Nerves must have played a big part within the Saints’ squad. Right back Alan Keane saw his shot fired into the grateful arms of Brendan Clarke while Sligo had a free header inside the box saved. Continue reading

LOI: Saints Aim To Go Marching On At Belfield


There are two fixtures in the League Of Ireland tonight which are complimented by Sunday’s FAI Cup semi finals which pits Drogheda United against Dundalk (1.45pm) and Sligo Rovers against Shamrock Rovers (3.55pm).

Onto league matters…

Derry City –v- Shelbourne    7:45 

Fifth placed Derry City host eleventh placed Shelbourne at the Brandywell tonight.

After the 3-0 defeat against Dundalk last week, Derry City slipped from their long held fourth position into fifth. The league is well and truly over for the northern side, with only pride and professionalism left to play for at this late stage. That professionalism should mean that their opponents here should find the Brandywell a tough place to attain a positive result although it hasn’t been the fortress it was in years gone by. Pats Primed For Silverware As O’Brien Gives Us An Inside View To Life In Inchicore

gerobrienPre-season this year felt very normal to us at St Pats with so many familiar faces still around from last year. Normally in this country there’s a new influx of players every year with most teams but we have managed to keep a large bulk of our squad which is great. Many of us had other offers to go elsewhere so it’s great to see so many committing to the club for the coming season. It’s a fantastic dressing room to be involved in and with the new faces we have added I’m hoping we can go a bit better than last year and get our hands on some silverware. Continue reading
