McGinn Double Adds To Hibs’ Misery

2013_09-HIBS-141

Two wonder goals from Northern Ireland star Niall McGinn secured the three points for Aberdeen in a hard fought encounter at Easter Road this evening.

Hibs’ run of bad luck continued before kick-off when striker Paul Heffernan suffered an injury during the warm-up and his place in the starting XI was taken by James Collins.

A loud speaker appeal for Jason Cummings to report to the dressing rooms soon followed and the youngster took an unexpected seat on the bench alongside experienced midfielders Kevin Thomson and Owain Tudur Jones. Continue reading

Hibs Finish Season In Bottom Six After Dismal Day In Perth

EdinReport-1-62

Hibs’ hopes of a top six finish vanished yesterday with a two goal defeat to St Johnstone in Perth.

As promised, manager Terry Butcher made several changes to his starting line up following last weekend’s defeat against Partick Thistle.

Goalkeeper Ben Williams missed the game to attend the birth of his child, whilst Duncan Watmore and Paul Hanlon both dropped out through injury. Continue reading

Hibs hopes of reaching the top six took a setback following a 0-0 draw with ten man St Johnstone at Easter Road today.

Manager Terry Butcher who had to watch from the Director’s box following a touchline ban, made just one change to the side following last weekend’s narrow defeat to champions Celtic with prolific youngster Jason Cummings taking over from Danny Handling who dropped to the bench. Continue reading

Terry Butcher’s first game in charge of Hibs ended in a no scoring draw against on form St Mirren in Paisley today. The Easter Road side dominated possession, and should have had a penalty when James Collins was clearly brought down by Darren McGregor in the box midway through the first half, but in the end, a draw was probably a fair result.

The new manager, who succeeded Pat Fenlon over the international break, surprised a few with his selection, retaining the same back four that played against Inverness two weeks ago although he admitted that James McPake would have played but for a last minute back injury. Continue reading

Hibs 1-1 Celtic: Brave performance by Fenlon’s men

Hibs had to settle for a share of the points after champions Celtic came from behind to grab a late equaliser in a 100mph encounter at Easter Road today.

Pat Fenlon made two changes to the side that beat Partick Thistle a fortnight ago with Abdellah Zoubir and Owain Tudur Jones starting in place of Tom Taiwo and James Collins – who dropped to the bench. Continue reading

‘Smash And Grab Raid’ Sees Hibs Take Three Points

craig

Even Pat Fenlon admitted that Hibs stole the three points in a ‘smash and grab raid’ at Firhill last night after Partick Thistle dominated possession throughout, and but for the performance of Ben Williams would have run out comfortable winners.

It took an inspired double substitution from the former Bohs’ manager however to change the course of the game midway through the second half when Owain Tudur Jones and Abdellah Zoubir combined to set up Liam Craig for his sixth goal of the season. Continue reading
