Hibs 0-4 Celtic – Four Goal Win Flatters Champions

Celtic maintained their unbeaten record against Hibs at Easter Road although the 4-0 scoreline flattered the champions.

Hibs manager Terry Butcher made four changes to last week’s line up with Paul Cairney and Jason Cummings dropping to the bench whilst Ryan McGivern missed the game due to injury and Scott Robertson due to suspension.

Paul Hanlon, Owain Tudur Jones and Kevin Thomson also missed the game through injury. Continue reading

Hibs Suffer Narrow Defeat To Champions Celtic

A brave performance by Hibs was not enough to secure a share of the points against champions Celtic at Parkhead today.

Hibs had to settle for a share of the points after champions Celtic came from behind to grab a late equaliser in a 100mph encounter at Easter Road today.

Hibs fans went from despair to anger to hope then finally delirium during a pulsating 120 minutes of football in the ultimate ‘game of two halves’ at Hampden Park yesterday.

Twenty four years ago, at the same stage, Hibs lost three goals in the first 30 minutes against Celtic, with a teenage Stevie Fulton the architect of their downfall. Hibs’ hopes of a top six finish vanished at Parkhead today as Pat Fenlon’s team lost 3-0 to champions elect Celtic.

Pat Fenlon made three changes to the team who lost to Inverness last Saturday, with Paul Hanlon back in defence after recovering from a hip injury. Jorge Claros and David Wotherspoon also returned, with Lewis Stevenson and Eoin Doyle on the bench and Tom Taiwo out altogether. Continue reading

Carling Nations Cup Goals

The Carling Nations Cup got off to a blistering start this week with both the Republic of Ireland and Scotland grinding out 3-0 wins over Wales and Northern Ireland respectively.

The competition will resume in May with the meeting of Ireland and Scotland on the 29th already looking pivotal.
