Hibs recorded their biggest league win in over two years this afternoon by comprehensively beating Livingston 4-0 at the Energy Assets Arena.

Goals from Dominique Malonga, Danny Handling , Dylan McGeough and Paul Heffernan ensured the three points headed to Easter Road and as an added bonus, Alan Stubbs’ men are now in the play off position.

Stubbs was forced to play Callum Booth in the centre of the defence alongside Paul Hanlon after normal first choice Jordon Forster called off due to an injury. Continue reading

Hibs Drop Another Two Points In Promotion Race

On form Hibs had to settle for one point against Raith Rovers at Easter Road this afternoon after a goal from former Hearts’ striker Christian Nade cancelled out Scott Robertson’s first half effort.

Alan Stubbs’ men dominated the first half and created numerous chances but had to be content with a one goal lead, but Rovers responded well and were well worth a share of the points.

Stubbs made one change to the starting XI who performed so well at Ibrox in midweek with Callum Booth replacing the injured David Gray resulting in the versatile Lewis Stevenson moving to right wing back. Continue reading

Dismal Hibs are languishing near the foot of the Championship tonight after losing to Queen of the South for the first time in a league fixture in 50 years.

In a poor game with few chances created by either side, an Ian McShane goal in the first half secured the points for the managerless Doonhamers who remain fourth, five points clear of seventh-place Hibs.

Alan Stubbs made two changes to the starting XI who beat Cowdenbeath last week, with new signings Dominique Malonga and Jake Sinclair replacing Paul Heffernan and Scott Allan.

On-loan Sinclair started brightly and threaded an inch perfect pass through for Matt Kennedy, who did well before his shot was easily saved by goalkeeper Zander Clark. Continue reading

Hibs Lose Again Despite Improved Performance

Despite a vastly improved performance in comparison to last week’s dismal derby display, Hibs once again came away with no points in an entertaining game against Falkirk at Easter Road this afternoon.

Head coach Alan Stubbs made four changes to the team that lost at Tynecastle. Two were enforced with suspended pair Lewis Stevenson and Scott Robertson being replaced by Callum Booth and Scott Allan, whilst on-loan Matthew Kennedy took Sam Stanton’s place and Paul Heffernan took over from Danny Handling.

Hibs started brightly particularly down the left side with Booth and Kennedy forming a dangerous partnership and were unlucky not to score. Continue reading

Business as usual as Hibs lose yet another Edinburgh derby

HibsBadge.

Despite the positive statements coming from Easter Road about changing the style of play, increasing the confidence of the players and bringing in quality rather than quantity, it was business as usual at Tynecastle this afternoon with Hibs’ players resorting to the aimless long ball tactics of last season and Hearts emerging as comfortable winners.

Head coach Alan Stubbs made two changes to the starting line-up that beat Livingston last Saturday. Danny Handling returned from suspension replacing Paul Heffernan and Michael Nelson taking over from the injured Paul Hanlon.

With Hearts’ two first choice goalkeepers injured, youngster Jack Hamilton took his place in goal.

After thirty minutes of neither team creating a chance, Hibs were given a great chance to take the lead when Hamilton collided with Handling inside the box and referee Collum pointed to the spot.

Skipper Liam Craig took the resultant penalty but missed the target with a poorly struck effort.

Mark Oxley then made a superb stop to deny Sam Nicholson before Jordon McGhee’s volley flew inches past the post just before the break. Continue reading
