Why Strength And Conditioning Matters

ABC 11 (4)

Hi my name is Noel Flynn and I am a Strength and Conditioning Coach. What is that you may ask? It sounds like something to do with bodybuilding right? Wrong! So before I explain a bit about what Strength and Conditioning is or S&C like it is becoming known for short, I will give a bit of detail about WHY I got into the field of S&C. I have always been sports mad. I played soccer for Hillcrest, ran with Lucan Harriers, swam in Stewarts and played hurling with Lucan Sarsfields but my main sport to this day is Gaelic Football which I continue to play at Intermediate Level with Lucan Sarsfields. So sport has always been a huge influence in the life of myself and my family. As a kid I was playing or competing in some sport pretty much every single day. Sport was the be all and end all really and I gave huge commitment to it, especially the Gaelic and gradually the other sports fell by the wayside. I really recommend kids trying a number of sports as there is something to be gained from all of them but that topic is for another day. Continue reading

WWE Parties Ready To Rumble

WWE Parties Ireland make a welcome return on Sunday November 18th for the annual Survivor Series card.

Doors open at 9pm and their will be a whole host of activities to lead fans up to the main event at 1am. A Survivor Series themed table quiz is scheduled while fans will also get to choose classic Survivor Series matches that they want to watch. The quiz will be hosted by Luke and Duane, singers of “Just Take Care, Spike Your Hair”, the official theme of WWE superstar Zack Ryder’s “Z! True Long Island Story programme”.WWE music will be played on the night while there will also be WWE tshirt giveaways and more.

With the pay per view on the big screen, late food, a late bar and a friendly atmosphere it really is the ultimate experience for any wrestling fan and at €5 it certainly is a bargain. Tickets for the event can be bought here.

Survivor Series itself promises to be a classic and hoardes of fans gathering at the event will be hoping to see Irish superstar Sheamus regain his World Heavyweight Championship as he battles The Big Show, who took the title from his grasp at Hell In A Cell.

Elsewhere on the card Ryback will have another crack at taking the coveted WWE Title from CM Punk in a triple threat match which also features John Cena. The monster, a revelation since his WWE debut, was screwed out of the title by referee turned wannabe superstar Brad Maddox at Hell In A Cell.

In traditional Survivor Series style two teams of five will do battle but who will be the last man standing as Team Foley battle Team Ziggler? WWE legend Mick Foley recruited Randy Orton, Kofi Kingston, Kane, Daniel Bryan and Ryback to his team to face Team Punk, which has since been changed due to the latter’s participation in the WWE title bout. Ryback has also been dropped from Team Foley for the same reason and as of yet no replacement has been announced. Team Foley will battle with Ziggler, Wade Barrett, Alberto Del Rio, Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes.

Expect more matches to be revealed as the event draws closer.

At Irish News Review, we have two tickets to give away for the highly anticipated event courtesy of our friends at WWE Parties Ireland. To win the tickets simply be the fifth person to tweet us (@irishnewsreview) the correct answer to the following question.

Survivor Series is the second longest running WWE pay per view, true or false?

Wrestling Icon Set To Woo Cork With Comedy Show

Former WWE Champion Mick Foley is taking a step out of the squared circle to visit Ireland with his very own stand up comedy show.

The hardcore legend and New York Times has endeared himself to millions worldwide for his in ring antics but  now he will embrace Cork`s Cyprus Avenue with his very own comedy show on November 3rd.

Foley, who has appeared under the ring names of Mankind, Dude Love and Cactus Jack, has exchanged the world of blood, sweat and tears for the world of stories, banter and punch-lines. Universally acclaimed as one of the most entertaining talkers in professional wrestling, Mick has decided to unleash his verbal talents on the world of stand-up comedy. With his unique sense of humour and understated charm he’s sure to enthrall fans old and new from behind the microphone.

Mick made his debut as a stand-up comic in 2009 at the world famous Improv in Los Angeles, California. Since then he’s shared his life with audiences across the length and breadth of America. Now the Long Island native is set to take Ireland by storm.
As a professional wrestler, Mick Foley has a resume that is almost unparalleled in the industry. Since his debut in 1985 the hardcore icon has worked alongside the biggest names in the wrestling industry such as Hulk Hogan, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and  “The Rock”.

The former king of hardcore is renowned for his dramatic, shocking and beyond believable matches. Excited about the prospect of telling stories, hearing laughter and fielding questions from some of my most loyal and dedicated fans. Relieved that I finally have a real answer to the one of the two questions I’m most frequently asked: when are you coming back to Ireland? As far as that other question, about returning to WWE, I guess we’ll have to wait and see.”
