GAA: Tipperary Outclass Limerick As Antrim Sneak Past Fermanagh

Limerick 1-11 Tipperary 2-14

The premier men came out on top as they outclassed their neighbours in the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday evening with goals from Barry Grogan and Philip Austin securing the win.

The game started brightly and Tipperary assumed control when Grogan found the back of the net. Tipp got a great boost from this early goal which helped them stay clear of Limerick for the first half. The premier county led by 1-7 to 0-6 points at the break.

Tipperary then had the best possible of starts to the second half when Philip Austin found the back of the net for their second goal. It seemed like it was going to be a day to forget for the Limerick footballers as they then conceded a penalty to the Division 4 league champions. Luckily the shot was saved by the Limerick keeper to prevent Tipperary putting the game well beyond the treaty county. Limerick got a little consolation towards the end of the game and put some more respectability on the scoreboard when Eoin Hanrahan converted a late penalty, but it was too little too late for the Shannonsiders. Tipperary now march on to face the might of Cork in the Munster Semi-Final. Continue reading
