Hibs Suffer Setback In Race For Second With Raith Defeat

Hibs hopes of a second place finish in the Championship suffered another setback this afternoon at Starks Park when despite dominating possession throughout, they lost 2-1 to Raith Rovers.

Head Coach Alan Stubbs made two changes to the starting XI that lost to Rangers last Sunday, with Keith Watson replacing the injured Paul Hanlon and Sam Stanton taking over from Franck Dja Djedje.

Farid El Alagui returned to the squad for the first time since he suffered a snapped achilles tendon against Alloa Athletic in August and took a seat on the bench alongside Jason Cummings who also made the list of substitutes after missing last weekend’s game with a knee knock. Continue reading

Last Minute Nade Goal Prevents Hibs Moving Above Rangers


Hibs missed the chance to move above Rangers in the Championship thanks to a last minute sucker punch from Raith Rovers’ Christian Nade at Easter Road today.

Alan Stubbs’ men dominated throughout and created enough chances to win ten games before the ex Hearts’ striker equalised Martin Boyles’ earlier strike so Hibs had to settle for one point.

Head Coach Alan Stubbs made one change to the starting XI that beat Queen of the South last week, with new on-loan signing from Dundee United, Keith Watson taking over at right back from Callum Booth who was told last week that he would not be offered a contract at the end of the season and elected to move to Partick Thistle on loan. Hibs Move Up To Third With Win Over Raith Rovers

Hibs leapfrogged Queen of the South to move into third place in the Championship this afternoon thanks to a 3-1 win away to Raith Rovers.

Head Coach Alan Stubbs kept faith with the starting XI who beat Alloa Athletic last week and the large travelling support were delighted to see David Gray recover from the knock which saw him leave the field early.

Hibs started brightly and Dominique Malonga went close after four then Danny Handling’s shot was parried by McGurn in the Raith goal. Continue reading

Hibs Drop Another Two Points In Promotion Race


On form Hibs had to settle for one point against Raith Rovers at Easter Road this afternoon after a goal from former Hearts’ striker Christian Nade cancelled out Scott Robertson’s first half effort.

Alan Stubbs’ men dominated the first half and created numerous chances but had to be content with a one goal lead, but Rovers responded well and were well worth a share of the points.

Stubbs made one change to the starting XI who performed so well at Ibrox in midweek with Callum Booth replacing the injured David Gray resulting in the versatile Lewis Stevenson moving to right wing back. Continue reading

Hibs’ Scottish Cup hoodoo continues


Hibs dismal Scottish Cup record continued this afternoon with a 3-2 home defeat to Raith Rovers at Easter Road.

Terry Butcher made two changes to the side that lost 4-0 to Celtic two weeks ago, with Paul Hanlon returning from injury to partner Michael Nelson in defence whilst new on loan signing Duncan Watmore was handed a first start in place of Abdellah Zoubir who dropped to the bench. Continue reading

Craig Praises Butcher As Hibs Progress In Scottish Cup


Hibs skipper Liam Craig insists that the sending off of Paul Cairney for simulation after being brought down by Ross County keeper Mark Brown was a refereeing mistake although he accepts that it shouldn’t have been a penalty.

Former Hibs Favourite Gerry Baker Dies Aged 75


Hibernian FC have announced the sad news that former striker Gerry Baker has passed away aged 75 following a short illness.The news comes just over a month after the death of club legend Lawrie Reilly and Gerry took the time to travel to Edinburgh for the funeral although the two fans’ favourites never played in the same team.
