Tate Replaces Injured Zingano For TUF 18

Cat Zingano has been forced to pull out of the upcoming series of The Ultimate Fighter and has been replaced by Miesha Tate.

Zingano suffered a knee injury in preparation for the show and subsequent fight against UFC Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.  The promotion has announced that due to the injury Tate will now coach against Rousey in the 18 series of the show, and will fight the champion in December. Velasquez Retains Title At UFC 160

Cain Velasquez retained his UFC Heavyweight title in devastating fashion defeating Antonio ‘Big Foot’ Silva in the first round.

Velasquez dominated the fight and made quick work of ‘Big Foot’ when referee Mario Yamasaki stopped the fight after one minute and twenty one seconds.  Following the fight Silva called for the referee to be punished as he believes that the fight was called to early.

He said: “”I do agree the fight was stopped too early.  My way of thinking is that the same that applies to athletes who are penalized when they do something wrong or illegal, should also apply to referees when they do something wrong. They, too, should be penalized.” Continue reading

Rural GAA Clubs Are Struggling With Financial Deficits

The GAA is a nationwide community which has nurtured many generations both on and off the pitch for many years. At the centre of many communities, the local GAA club is where dreams have become reality and where they are all too often shattered. For clubs that are pivotal to their community, GAA is much more than just a sport. It is a religion, a passion, a dedication and the glue which binds generations together. However, with the current bleak economic climate, it is apparent that rural clubs have suffered severe financial blows.
