Hibs Come From Behind To Beat St Johnstone

Hibs came from behind to secure a valuable victory against St Johnstone in Perth today, and significantly, the goals came from new striking partners Paul Heffernan and James Collins, their first for the club.

Manager Pat Fenlon made four changes to the side that drew 0-0 with Ross County last week, with Kevin Thomson returning from suspension, and Paul Heffernan making his first start.  Player coach Alan Maybury took the right back spot from Lewis Stevenson who moved to his natural position on the left, replacing the injured Ryan McGivern. Dubliner Heffernan To Fight For Hibs Place

Dubliner Paul Heffernan has seen enough of his fellow strikers on the training ground to convince him that he will have to fight for his place in a goal-shy Hibs team that has only scored three goals in six competitive games, all of which were scored by midfielders..

Speaking at the weekly press conference ahead of today’s clash with St Johnstone, the former Kilmarnock striker said that he wasn’t put off by the Malmo result and believes that the quality of players in the squad should at the very least ensure a top six finish. Continue reading

It’s been a busy summer period for Pat Fenlon, with an incredible 26 players leaving or arriving at the club.

Of last year’s squad, fans’ favourite Leigh Griffiths returned to parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers where he has since signed a contract extension after making an impressive start to the season, whilst striking partner Eoin Doyle has joined Chesterfield. Continue reading

Hibernian FC have announced the sad news that former striker Gerry Baker has passed away aged 75 following a short illness.The news comes just over a month after the death of club legend Lawrie Reilly and Gerry took the time to travel to Edinburgh for the funeral although the two fans’ favourites never played in the same team. Danny Handling Keen To Catch Fenlon’s Eye Before Final

Hibs teenage star Danny Handling has spoken of his delight to have played his part in helping Hibs comeback from a three goal deficit to beat Falkirk and reach the Scottish Cup Final for the second year in succession. The youngster has featured in fourteen first team games this season although he has only started one, and he is keen to catch the manager’s eye in the remaining fixtures, starting with Aberdeen on Monday night.
