Rovers Secure Fahey Signature

Shamrock Rovers have this morning completed the signing of Keith Fahey from arch rivals St Patrick’s Athletic.

The 31-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on a deal which will see him line out with the Hoops for the 2015 season.

Former Birmingham City star Fahey has 16 full Republic of Ireland international caps and becomes Pat Fenlon’s first signing of the close season. Continue reading

Manchester United today confirmed the British transfer record signing of Angel DiMaria for a whopping €75m (£59.7m), eclipsing January’s record buy, Juan Mata, who cost a cool €46m (£37.1m). The fast, intelligent and versatile Argentinian is most naturally suited to the left wing, but has proven his adaptability at former club Real Madrid by playing across the the midfield and attacking line. Melbourne City Sign Damien Duff

Melbourne City FC have signed former Republic of Ireland international Damien Duff on a one-year deal for the Hyundai A-League 2014-15 season.

An icon of modern Irish football, Duff made 100 appearances for his country and captained the national team during the UEFA Euro 2012 competition.

At club level, Duff lifted the League Cup with Blackburn Rovers, won two Premier League titles and another League Cup with Chelsea before transferring to Newcastle United and later to Fulham, where he played in the 2010 UEFA Europa League Final. Continue reading

Martinez Denies Coleman Transfer Reports

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has refuted claims that Manchester United are in advanced talks to sign Ireland defender Seamus Coleman.

The former Sligo Rovers right back has enjoyed a great season, scoring seven goals in the process.

Former Blues manager David Moyes is reportedly interested in bringing the 25-year-old to Old Trafford in the summer but Martinez revealed that he has never discussed the player’s availability with anyone. Continue reading

West Brom Accept Hull Offer For Ireland Striker

West Bromwich Albion have accepted an  undisclosed offer from Hull City for Ireland striker Shane Long.

The Tipperary native has six months left on his Hawthorns deal, plus  a year’s option in the club’s favour, and has been given permission to talk to  the Tigers, who have also signed Nikica Jelavic from Everton to partner the former Cork City star.  Continue reading

Bradley And Gartland Linked With Rovers Return

Stephen Bradley is close to signing for Shamrock Rovers according to a source within the club.

The same source also revealed the club are targeting the signature of Graham Gartland.

Gartland found himself relegated with Shelbourne last season while Bradley had a good season with Limerick as they finished mid-table.

Fenlon In Double Swoop For Heffernan And Zoubir

HibsPat Fenlon has completed a double signing ahead of the transfer window closing on Saturday night.

Earlier today, the club confirmed that Dublin born striker Paul Heffernan has joined from Kilmarnock after agreeing a contract until the end of the 2014/15 season, and 21 year old French winger Abdellah Zoubir has joined the club on loan from FC Istres for the 2013/14 season following a successful trial this week. With the new Premier League season fast approaching, it’s hard to look beyond an old foe of many managers and fans alike from stealing the limelight once the season gets underway.

This summer’s transfer window and indeed all of the summer’s talk has been shaped around three men, Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and Arsenal’s pursuit of the Uruguayan, Wayne Rooney and his transfer request and Spur’s Gareth Bale who is being courted by Real Madrid.
